AD Truck LS Intake
Just curious what people have been doing for their air intakes on LS swaps into AD trucks. Pictures would be great. Thanks.

Re: AD Truck LS Intake
What are you plumbing from the manifold to the filter/MAF? And where are you planning to have your filter? I think that's the part I'm struggling to see because there isn’t a whole lot of room up front for a filter and it doesn’t seem like anywhere will get good clean air. The photo below I pulled off of the forum somewhere and now I can’t find the thread but it seems like the filter location would be getting lots of hot air.

Re: AD Truck LS Intake
I"m guessing if he's running a Hi-Ram, the clearance issue won't be the same. That manifold sits like 4" taller than a standard one, and has an angle built into the tb mount.
As for your intake situation, I might suggest looking at something called a Cobra Head elbow. It goes by a few names, but its basically a 90* elbow that ovals out to keep the same flow in a tighter bend. Its very similar to what used to come on the intake paths of vortech blowers. Looks like this

Re: AD Truck LS Intake
I am planning on running an afe cold air intake that I picked up from a salvage yard for cheap. The plan is so far to run it through the inner passenger fender and box it off then make an opening behind the grill so I have cold and ram air. Unless anyone else has a better idea please let me know. Most of this stuff I am figuring out as I go. I can try to add more pictures but phone will only let me do one for now.

That should be a great location for "cold air"

Re: AD Truck LS Intake
Just a thought...how much space do you have behind the intake manifold? I've seen some swaps where people flipped the intake around so that the TB was at the back of the engine, but they were different applications than an AD truck

Re: AD Truck LS Intake
I don't have any room. There's maybe 2" between the back of the engine and the firewall. I think there's enough room to get it routed out of the front but just not sure where the best air is. I'm thinking the inner fender air box idea is best so far.

OP, you can always switch to running a 4150 style manifold/TB combination. You won't have to worry about front clearances (and you'll go SD in the process).

Re: AD Truck LS Intake
Currently running a throttle body mounted Spectre filter, but I'm planning to section a K&N intake tube to get the filter in a better location.
