Mine are extra bent on purpose - I had to in order to make the latches work. If you can get an eye on the latch (roll the window down and look through the top of the door), it's pretty easy to see what's happening when you operate the handle, and then easy to figure out whether the rod needs to be shorter or longer. Bend accordingly. Can't remember if there's a threaded fitting on one end for small adjustment, seem to remember that... but in my truck (if that fitting exists) it wasn't enough to make the door handles work.
