How much lift on 87 2wd 1/2 ton

I'd like to lift this thing a little so its not ridin so low. How many inches are good just for looks without making it look to odd? Has 15" tires, so I don't want to go real high cause the wheel wells won't be filled out. I found a lift kit in JC Whitney that was fairly inexpensive, but it didn't say anything about needin different shocks or changin hoses. Would that be right?

you can run 32" at stock height.. it fills the wheels wells real well and gives a bit more ground clearance. Feel free to check both my sites... one for my truck.. other for "prerunners"..

you can do a body lift if you are just wanting larger tires. if you are wanting a bit more suspension.. you could go with blocks in back. and either a coil lift or a coil spacer. If you want more info on this subject matter feel free to ask.... i will do my best to answer it...

Don't listen to him, up is better. IMO

I upgraded my 86 2wd LWB from the standard spring set to the heavy duty "camper special" springs. The springs came off of my '77 donor truck.

I like the look even this small lift of about 1 1/2" gave me. Someday maybe I'll lift it a little more, but for now at least it looks a little more like a truck should....right Prerunner???

i threw 3/4 ton springs in the back of my 76 and she sits nice now i gotta figure out what to do with the front cause she sits on a heck of a slant

Zilverado... you are correct... a stock truck with the stock 235s... looks awfully funny.. should have come with 31s from the factory.. larger tires make a big difference alone.

rolson, did you put the 3/4 ton springs on the front too? try 1-tons? the PO put what he called on the build sheet HD front coils.. my truck has NO rack.
