new to me '77 GMC Sierra
Hi all, just wanted to quickly introduce myself as I am new to this forum.
My name is Matt, and I'm from St. Catharines Ontario, close to Niagara Falls. I recently bought my first older truck, a 77 Sierra Classic. The truck came with a rebuilt 350 4bolt and a 3 speed 350 transmission. Not sure yet on what I'm going to do with the truck, so far I've been learning a lot from you guys, and one day I just might decide to take her apart! Body has only 70k original miles on it..! Paint is all original, except for the orange. Used to be white-ish. But this is how I bought her. Truck has a coupe holes in the box floor, and a couple spots here and there, but overall she is in decent shape. For now I just stick to learning, but I'm sure I'll be doing work on this truck soon, as I'm getting very inspired from all the amazing trucks I've seen so far. |

Re: new to me '77 GMC Sierra
Thanks everyone!
Will take some more shots when I get home from work! I've pulled the dash and doorpanels, and fixed some bulbs and small things. I also started painting the interior plastics. The tan interior had turned pink over the years, and that's just not my colour.. |

Re: new to me '77 GMC Sierra
here are some interior pics:
In the meantime I've painted all the interior plastics. The doorpanels turned pink over the years, so I took it all out, including the parts that hold the headliner up. Painted it all back in the original sand colour. since my old dashpad was all cracked, I bought one off the internet in much better shape. my 'new' dash had just one hole in it, wich I filled. I then painted the dash in the same colour as the rest of the interior plastics. I also redid the headliner which had been coming down. With all the snow and rain we've been getting lately I noticed the weather stripping not doing what it's supposed to anymore! spend $80 on a set and replaced all the rubbers on both doors. Had a bit of a hard time closing the doors due to new rubber, but after leaving the truck sitting with closed doors for a week, that problem was history. progress. All there's left to do is the carpet, and either replace or reupholster the bench seat..! Last edited by Matt1977; 02-11-2015 at 04:50 PM. |

Re: new to me '77 GMC Sierra
Also, I found a tilt-column for $50 online, gotta pick it up still.
I'm 6 ft 6, so it's kind of a must! hoping it'll make it easier for me to climb in the truck lol. I've also replaced all the locks, got a set off of ebay, 3 locks which take the same key! I'm thinking about leveling the truck. I'm leaning towards lifting the front just a bit, but I might lower the back, not sure yet! |
