Re: Diesel does a build

Thanks guys.
kraut I was actually planning on doing the headers today, but our ONE (!) exhaust shop here in town is closed down for the time being because the owner and sole employee is in the hospital. So goes my luck. Probably not a good time anyway, since it's about 500 degrees with 200% humidity here in lovely Kansas. I'm not even sure where to start on this thing, there is just so much to do.

Re: Diesel does a build

You have did alot with this pickup. Lookin very nice.

We're in the middle of my sons 72 and it has rear leafs. We put 22's on it and I'd like to get them to tuck with a static drop. Eventually it will get bags but baby steps right.

I'm wondering if JUST removing some leafs will do that? Or if I have to do a flip?

Any advice you could give would be great.

Re: Diesel does a build

i would suggest a flipkit since it works better than taking out leafs , dearched springs work as whell but when its only temporary its like trowing away money where it isnt needed (the price here is close to airbag springs ) , you prolly have to weld in a c clip either way to prevent the axle hitting the frame

Re: Diesel does a build

Thanks for the interest in her lately. I finally got my headers that sauerkraut made me put on and hooked up the other day. Took her out and beat on her for a while, trying to burn up a bunch of varnish-smelling gas. Just wish I had more time!

Well it's been another two months, and on the bright side, baby has a garage. She is stuffed against a wall, but she is inside and ready for some winter love if I have the time. I WILL be driving Pig Pen by spring WITH the new engine, I SWEAR!!

Re: Diesel does a build

Thank's guys! Don't have any recent pics. Just try to picture her covered in dust sitting in the corner of the garage. I recently had a guy that wanted to trade his hardtail ironhead for her (deal fell through) so I have been tinkering with her a little lately and the love affair has re-kindled. Just waiting for some fairer weather and she will be on the road.

Glad you guys re-kindled. What are your plans?
You going to put Supremes on her? (saw your avatar)

I'd love to put some Supremes on her. That is actually one of my viable options, considering the cost. Right now, I'm just waiting for mother nature and my job to to cooperate.

Re: Diesel does a build

Hey Diesel Army 13. I see your note with the pictures "Not sure of the actual conditon, I had my mom send me few pics of her, and this is waht she sent me:"
I looked and looked and can't find the pics of your Mom. She just sent pics of a truck, bummer. Tell her I'm single, tall, skinny, no pot belly, don't smoke and am not quite 74 yet. If your Mom isn't single, delete this message, I don't want to get hurt. Ah - maybe leave the 74 off too ! !
Just kiddin' The English language is so much fun - that is what you said, asked your Mom to send pictures of HER! If you're just gettin' home from Bush's war I hope you are whole and hopefully past any PTSD. I didn't experience that, but my Dad did and it lasted forever, we never knew what it was. Even if you're a career GI, your Mom is probably about 2 decades too young for me - WHAAAAA ! Heck of a project you're into. At that age I mentioned (shush), I working on my FIRST street rod, a 55.2 with SBC 302 (th eole Z/28) but with Roller Cam and 3 Rochester 2Gs (about the same CFM as the original big 4 bbl though) & pushing a 700R4. Haven't selected a rear end yet. She's got a '77 Nova 10 bolt and I may stay with that, but change it from my 2.56 to about a 3.42. Welcome home GI. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.

Re: Diesel does a build

Yep, still have "My Girl" (named her that due to all her curves).
Haven't done much on her the past few months. Bad back & hips slowing me & also, I need to loosen the entire front end & align the fenders and hood. Somebody put 'em on poorly due to their not fitting over their added '89-'93 Chevy S-10 front clip and then sort-of just forcing the fenders on = before I can secure the new (correct) Radiator Support and Radiator. I have not been able to find any guidance on loosening all these components and I'd rather not do a shade-tree mechanic type job on her.

Re: Diesel does a build

I've got a lot more than 2 headlights. You didn't mean all 4 had to be in 1 vehicle did you? I've got 2+2+4 (its a car)+2+2 and the 4 are running right now. YEA!!!

Nah, I traded it to a dude who sold it to another dude who ended up getting transferred to Germany for work. The last I heard, she was tore apart in a garage somewhere in Texas. I still miss her.
