Hi guys, was curious if you guys could post some images of your 350 motor mount I'm just confused on the motor mount the parts store gave me compared to what I think goes on there.

Re: 72 c15 motor mount confusion

Should be a clam shell style mount, similar to the later models

the one you are holding is the earlier style. The clamshell is the newer one.

Should this work on my 72? Went back to the parts store and said this is what fits the 72.

Re: 72 c15 motor mount confusion

NO. that's for the earlier models. You need the clamshell style.

From what I have found you can ask for 73+ motor mounts but the word on the street is they are slightly different. I had to beat, pry and plead to get the motor to drop back in.

heres a thread that will make it clear as mud
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=634402

take a pic of your current mount and we can tell you which you have.

Re: 72 c15 motor mount confusion

In 1972 the small blocks still used a mount like the one pictured in #3 post. In 1972 the big blocks were mounted using a clam shell style mount like the one pictured in the above link.

I've seen small blocks with clams, even on the spid

My 1972 GMC C1500 has the exact same ones as in post #3. SBC 350 from the factory.

Re: 72 c15 motor mount confusion

I think you guys are confusing the issue. The OP said an SBC 350,, not a BBC '72 only clam. The mount pictured bolts to the block with three bolts then it sets on the stands and one bolt retains the mount to the stands from the underside. I can take a pic this afternoon if needed. What frame stands/perches are you working with jomatt?
