Vent window latch post - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Is there a repair available yet to repair the "post" that the vent window latch attaches to? I don't want to have to spend 250.00 bones to replace the entire assembly just because of that piece. Also, the only replacements I've seen are chrome, and I simply want black.
Has anyone repaired one themselves somehow? I'm totally good with tearing the assembly apart and rebuilding/repainting it with new rubber.

I have searched, this question has been asked with very unclear answers. I have gone through all the parts at LMC, Brothers, and Classic but don't see what I need.
