14 Bolt part swap question

I have a 1991 V2500 suburban. I swapped in a older 14bff. Now I HAVE to keep my emergency brake. The 14bff is an older version and the cable system is different.

The 14bff is SRW. Can I swap over the backing plates and all brake hardware from my 91 14sf?

I did the same swap in my 83 with a 14 bolt from a 74. I think I made the brake cables work on that (this was ~20 yrs ago) but can't remember.

But - if the ends do not work, can you swap cables? Take cables from the FF rear and mate them up stream at some point? I'm thinking the junction where the two meet into one point at the split?

The setup is different upstream. Mine flows down the driver side and splits around the rear door. The older version splits at the firewall and one goes down driver/passenger. The cables them selves do not interchange. The backing plate I have on the FF are bolt in cables. The ones on the suburban are slip in cables.

I have tried searching but with no luck. My SF is the 13x2.5 brake. the FF is a older one but should still be the 13x2.5. So my theory is since the same size of drums, and associated brake parts, the backing plates and out should be able to be bolted up.

I can't remember the sizes, but do remember that my FF had different sized drums. I want to say that the diameter was smaller, but shoe width was larger. If it does match, you may have to massage the mounting holes and center to fit the larger axle housing.

I wonder if you used the info from a 91 SRW crew cab 3500 for new backing plates and hardware? That would have the updated cable set-up like yours. Of course, this might get expensive.
