Re: 70 C-30 build thread

Sometimes it is prudent to "know when to say enough". Sometimes (ok, actually quite often) I wish I had that ability. Oh No, not me, too dang stubborn, cheap, whatever.
Anyhow, a friendship is a cherished thing. Maybe you can still help out now and then as you can and stay involved. Maybe sometime in the future you can get another one, possibly more in a condition that works with your work/family schedule.

Thank you. Though I enjoyed the time I had to make the effort, it was far more effort than I had imagined. There were several mitigating factors in that decision and one is that I don't live in Wichita--Richard does. So when I get to go there and tinker with the truck, I am typically imposing on his weekends or time he may have reserved to do other things.

Also, I am trying to post things in chronological order so much of this stuff has happened months ago despite the idea that I am just getting around to posting this. More pictures coming.

I still search this forum for him and post questions occasionally (when I'm in the area), but he is going to have to keep the thread updated as I find it is nearly impossible to restore a vehicle from a distance and make any meaningful progress.

He doesn't have an account here because he hasn't needed one. I have made the account while perched at his computer, imposing on his weekends and generally being a pain. The truck, purchased over a year ago, has never made it to my residence but has been at his friends garage and at Richards house.

And though we have made some good progress, he has done nearly everything (hell, he even found the truck for me and had it towed to Wichita). Yes, I would have liked to restore the truck but circumstances simply do not allow.

Re: 70 C-30 build thread

The two piece heater box installed with a new heater core. It has been sealed to the firewall with a rubber gasket then sealed around the preimeter with pliable windshield sealant.

An HEI distributor replaces the original points/condenser distributor.

Of course, the cab had to be gutted for the clean-up. Here is the interior heater components and the bezel after a cleaning, sanding and paint.

With the exception of the doors (obviously) everything in the cab got a thorough cleaning. Then it was sanded and treated with Ospho to prevent any rust pits from re-occurring. Even the under side of the dash was cleaned, sanded, treated and painted.

Another view through the opening of the glove compartment with the heater duct installed. Clean, huh?

Naturally the original cardboard glove box did not survive the fire so a new compartment is being made. Guess who's doing it. Hint: it aint me.
