What did you get done 2/15/15 edition

I got more parts located in between winter storms. Hope to get some other parts so I can get working on my truck again. My son decided he wants to add another car to his collection so we spent most of the day today chasing down a monte carlo SS . we found one cheap wich we are planning on picking up.How about you all?

Re: What did you get done 2/15/15 edition

spent all day out side doing head gaskets so i could drive truck to work tomorrow.

in the end its going to just be a bandaid when should have had stitches. Poor old 305 is worn out pretty bad but i need the truck to drive and didn't have another engine ready. Now to round up a 5.7 and get it built before 305 gives up on me again

Got the exhaust off the 79, it's getting new stuff. Prepped the low-mileage turbo mufflers to go on the CUCV, which has some muffler rot. Swept the shop?

Truck was finally buttoned up and fluids all topped off and ready to fire.. Then the battery died..

Picked up a new battery charger and hoping to get it going today.

Got a new stereo installed. Alpine head unit, 2 alpine amps, a 10" kicker sub, I used Jeff's 6x9 brackets for the rear, and put some 6 1/2" in the doors. The sound is great, but have to leave the seat 1 click from all the way back.

Re: What did you get done 2/15/15 edition

  • Vacuum pedal assembly swapped in place of the hydraboost pedal assembly.
  • Front seat tracks cleaned up & detail painted (I hate fresh recovered seats on dirty tracks).
  • Manual paddle valve brackets prepped, painted, & installed under the seats.
  • Front seat bottoms installed.

I also cleaned, prepped, & painted the center console. My buddy worked on polishing the trim bezel aggressively for me as well. I just did a brief once over on it to assess the condition when I was contemplating have someone else restore the console. It cleaned up remarkably well so I opted to do the console myself. The extra time he spent on the bezel really made it stand out.

Still need to bleed the brakes again & see how things work.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Buttoned up some wiring, washed the dust off her. Installed electric fan and tach wiring, put the dash back in too. Ready to get her going, tires haven't seen pavement in two years!! Makes me sick!

You might want to flip her over before you try to drive her.
