P*ssed
I just had an auction complete on e-bay, it was not close to reserve w/ 4 minutes left. All of a sudden this person bids and meets the reserve, then e-mails me and said they did so by mistake. What recourse do I have. I think they were bidding to see what the reserve was. I e-mailed them back and said as far as I am concerned they bought it!, also e-mailed e-bay. Any thoughts

it happens !! just [put in a non-paying bidder report to ebay so you don't have to pay to relist it and get over it

All comes down to the honesty of the person.......
Heard of cases were that was done to get the bid and then go back asking for a lower price due to mistake....... Sorry to hear that happened.....

Look at his feedback profile and see if he has a history of bid retractions. His member profile will tell you how many times he has retracted a bid in the last six months. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience on your first go around. It doesn't happen that often. I guess I've been lucky. I've sold hundreds of items on ebay and have only had a few non-paying bidders. Don't give up, it's a great way to sell things you don't need. BTW...You can block him from bidding on your future auctions. I think you did the right thing by e-mailing ebay. I would wait it out and see what his next move is going to be. He was obviously interested in the item. I wouldn't bend on the price though. Keep in mind, he can still leave retalitory negative feedback...But then again.......You can too.

MAYBE IT WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE. JUST FILE A NON-PAYING BIDDER FORM , & THEN A FINAL AUCTION FEE REBATE FORM SO IT DOESN'T COST YOU ANY MONEY. IF YOU LIST & SELL MUCH STUFF ON EBAY, THIS WON'T BE THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENS TO YOU. GET PAST IT, RELIST YOUR ITEM, & DON'T PULL YOUR HAIR OUT OVER IT. IF THATS THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENS WITH YOUR DEALINGS OVER THE NET....... YOU'RE ONE LUCKY GUY. JOHN
