Lwb to swb...6"or 8" cut in rear???
I followed rokcrln instructions on this site (yesterday Actually)and cut 8" from rear and 12" from the front. But today i read a build on street trucks where they only took 6" from rear. If a lwb is 8' and swb 6'-6". Wouldnt the cut be 6" be correct????. Maybe i misunderstand somthing because ive seen dozens of people cut 12"and 8".... Then again maybe its wrong! Help

I always questioned the 8" too.

I just measured my short box and my long box, just to compare. This short box, measured at the body line, under the marker light. is 25 inches. The long box measuring the exact same place is 33 inches. Looks to me like 8 inches shorter in the rear.

I measured my long bed the same way and it is 100 1/4" basically 20" longer.
That means the 8" cut is correct.

I cut my '70 12" in the middle and 8" in the rear. LockDoc

Ok looks like im good then. I got a lil bit nervous. But im still about 3/8" shy of those pics. Maybe just the angle of camera or hooking tape measure on a radius. But thanks guys

When I cut my old truck down I took 8 off the frame but 6 would have been better. There was very little for the box to sit on.
