1988-1998 Interiors

Just curious if someone can help me with this. I have a 1990 Chevy stepside.. I got a door off a 1998 to replace it. With the panels being different... can I put my 90 panel on the 98 door? Do I need to drill holes etc for the panel tabs to hold it in place or ??. Any help would be great. Tks

Yeah the shells are the same for sure.... but more looking for info on as to whether or not the panel from a 90 door will fit on to the 98 door without any mods... drilling tab holes etc?

I think what Brownsville was getting at is that you would have to change the inner door panel. You have the plastic door panel, and then you have a black metal panel behind it. That black panel is screwed to the door shell, and it has holes and to house the plastic door panel retainers.

I can't recall if that black metal inner panel is different between old and new style door panels. If there is anything you need to look into, that would be it. Does the black metal panel need to be swapped.

I will check this out for myself at the junkyard next time I'm there, because that's good to know lol.

Yeah.... not sure if the internal panel is the same? But if need be I would just swap the one from my door onto that anyway. They look similar but not 100%. My biggest concern was putting my panel on in place of the one on the door now. But it looks like all should be good. Doors are identical... just different outer panels. Tried to find a thread to tell me but couldn't. Guess I'm the only one swapping interiors, lol. Well the panel anyway... ;-)

Oh.... and my apologies Brownsville.... I get what you meant now. Tks BTW
