Tach dash swap
I would like to swap in a factory tach dash into my 86 Custom deluxe. Which years will be a direct swap? TIA.

Re: Tach dash swap
Does your truck currently have warning lights or a cluster with volt/temp/oil gauges?
If you have a cluster with gauges, a 1978 or newer tach cluster will be a direct swap. Although, if your truck has cruise control and you want to keep it functional, you might have to make some minor modifications to re-use your VSS (vehicle speed sensor) equipped speedometer in the tach cluster. If you have a warning light cluster, you will have to re-pin the connector and make some other changes before you can swap in any gauge cluster (with or without a tach). |

Re: Tach dash swap
I got one from an 86 GMC C7000 and it was a direct plugin to my 86 C10 equipped with gauge package. Tach harness is a separate 3-pin harness.
