Front end questions for 70 chevy

Hey guys. So my dad got himself a free truck. It's a 1970. Unsure if it's a c20 or c10 at this moment. The truck has no front end suspension wise. Other than 67-72 front ends being able to fit it, what other years will fit as well?

There's no 67-72 front ends near me on CL nor salvage yards, but there are a ton of newer chevy trucks at the salvage yards. Just looking for something to make it roll and maybe even use in the future.

Thanks in advance

Re: Front end questions for 70 chevy

I know that the search functions have been down so I'm giving you a pass on this one. This is one of the most covered topics [if not the most]for front disc brake upgrade there is. You can take a front crossmember from any C-10 truck from the model years of 1973 to 1987 and it will fit in the 67 -72[ and back to the 60 model if I remember right but were not building one of those]. By using the 73-87 you can use every thing that goes with that crossmember that includes the A-arms, spindles, rotors, calipers, brakes ball joints you get the picture. Also you could take everything off the crossmember and install on to your truck if you didn't want to tear it down to the point of taking out the crossmember witch means the motor has to go somewhere. Most people use this time as in a rebuild or at very least the time to do major house cleaning to tidy up in the engine compartment. By using all of the 73 87 steering and suspension and braking components you can save a good bit of money as they are cheaper than the 2 year only 71 -2 stuff is. While you are at it it could also grab the brake booster and combo valve from the same truck so you can complete the suspension /brake upgrade. Hope this helps. Jim

Thanks a ton jim. I totally forgot about the search being down.

As for the truck, it's a c20. With it being a c20, does that change anything that you said?

I think Hugger's advice still applies, except you would probably want to find a C20 donor truck for the suspension and brake components (...unless you want to take this opportunity to go to a five lug wheel pattern).
