Disc Brake Xmember Swap Verification-Blazer

Went thru the 60-66 FAQ's... everyone "mentions" the later model C10 crossmember swap to get 5 lug and disc brakes...

I would like to VERIFY that a 1987 BLAZER 2wd retains the same geometry... I have a hit on a completey assembled Xmember front up here but its off of a Blazer and I want to ensure that the blazer retains the same GEO up front (since its a rear leaf chassis even tho its 2wd)

87 BLAZER frame the same as a C10 frame?

Any other issues with using 1987 Blazer front Xmember/brakes/arms etc? when integrating into their 1960-66 C10 frame besides the standard elongated the holes?

Re: Disc Brake Xmember Swap Verification-Blazer

If you're truck is a 66 why the change? There are brake kits that do this and don't have to use old parts but new. Or swap ball joints to later ones and use new spindles. http://www.classicperform.com/Chevy-Truck.htm

The crossmember is pretty much the same. No real gain.

Last year of the FULL SIZE 2wd blazers was 1982.
Are you talking about an S10 blazer?
They are totally different.

Re: Disc Brake Xmember Swap Verification-Blazer

yes blazer and suburban used the same body and frame until 1991, the truck switched to the new body style in 88, and the blazer and suburban in 92.
so the 2wd blazer cross member should interchange 1973 to 1991!

I used an 88 sub x-member on my wifes 63 with no problems

The '73-'87 C10,20 and 30 pickups, '73-'91 C10,20 Suburbans and '73-'91 K5 Blazers are all based on the same frame and same suspensions.

Re: Disc Brake Xmember Swap Verification-Blazer

Am I the ONLY one reading "87 2wd blazer"?
The last GM production year for two wheel drive blazers was 1982.

The one pictured is a 4x4 blazer.
What am I missing?
