...Ok, I've got a buddy who is trying to sort out the results of 2"-3" lift on his 70' GMC 3/4 ton, 2wd.
I'm not an expert on this lifting stuff at all....but I had always assumed most 'lifting' was done down in the suspension where you lifted the frame/body off the lower driveline.
However, his kit has lifted the body off the frame 2"+ all around and what this has done on the front is create a big 2" gap between his bumper and his grill.
I found this to pretty odd given that lifting the body off the frame with spacers would mess with everything from steering angle, connection points, etc, etc.
Anyone know much about this?
He is trying to restore his bumper back to its original geometry relative to the grill.

Take off the body lift :P

I know it's a bad idea. Anything other than a suspension lift is BS,IMO. What people do is bring the bumper up with the body, so you end up with weaker bumpers. And with these trucks the frame tapers back at the bottom, so it will need to be spaced forward as well

Usually people who want a lot of lift will do the body lift in addition to the spring lift. you can probably count on the body lift bushings being polyuratane not rubber, i hear they can start making annoying squeeking sounds at times but i have never run them so don't know for sure.

If it was my truck i'd put stock bushings back on, if he wants lift your better with a spring lift kit.

To get to his delema he's going to have to fabricate custom brackets..
