Nothing different to look for on a 20. Mechanicals are cheap and easy on these trucks whether 1/2 or 3/4 ton. Paint and body is where you spend all the money.

The last (running) jeep I bought I didn't even test drive. Figured the guy drove up in it so it ran. But I spent nearly 40 minutes under and around looking for collision repair and or rust damage. I buy a truck the same way! The jeep did have a slipping clutch as I found out later, but I don't think I could have gotten it for any less. And the clutch fix was less than $300 and done in a weekend. Can't say that for many paint and body jobs...

this truck is a big block Cheyenne. 1972. I know what you mean about disc brakes. that and big block is why I am going to see it.

Re: need advice on c20

Cool. I had a 70 GMC C2500 with the big block. I converted it to discs. Loved that truck but had to sell when my son was born. I'm a dog-in-the-truck kinda' guy and we didn't all fit at that point and I needed the $ towards an extended cab truck. Hope it's a good one!

Only thing i would say to look at for sure is check the suspension parts a lil more.not that they are hard or exspensive to replace, just that they are more likely to need replaced soonerthan later becuase it was used to haul alot more than likely

Rear coils ride softer than leafs. I'd go with power brakes (easy to add later) and steering (not as easy to add later).
