Wood bed rails
Ive searched the board and cant find any diagram or measurement for installing wood bed on my 68 SWB fleetside while the bed is off the truck. Does anyone have pictures or measurements of the bed rail supports? I know the front and rear are self explanatory but the two in the middle are not. My bed floor is completely gone. Thanks!!

Re: Wood bed rails
What exactly do you need measurements of? The wood planks themselves? Or the supports?

Re: Wood bed rails
Just the supports. My truck has nothing left and I want to build the bed in my garage then mount it

Re: Wood bed rails
I'm still a little unclear about what you are asking. Not sure if it's the placement fore and aft of the cross sills and reinforcement strip or the sizes of them. Here's a link to the Mar-K catalog that may give a perspective and also gives the sizes of the strips and sills if you click on the items in the left column. If you hover over the parts it'll also show how many you need. Note that it only shows 2 cross sills, but it says you need 3.
http://www.mar-k.com/Catalog/catalog.aspx If you order the parts from them they will also provide the $10 bed assembly instructions at no charge if requested. |

And... here's info on the wood dimensions and where the different board widths get placed.

Re: Wood bed rails
I guess my question should've been if I buikd the wood bed floor with the bed off the truck do I attach the cross rails that mount betwwen the floor and frame to the wood floor or attach them to the frame first? Also I was looking for the measurements as to where the cross rails attach to the frame. The front and rear supports are self explanatory but the middle ones I can't figure out. Hope that makes sense. Thanks Lou

Re: Wood bed rails
For my LWB, I attached the wheel wells and cross sills , fit the wood, added the strips between the boards and placed the frame bracket bolts loose in their holes. All off the truck. Then I had 4 guys from the body shop come out to drop the finished bed (less the tailgate) as I lay beneath and guided the bolts (front ones 1st) into the frame brackets. I had also attached cardboard to protect the cab for damage. I'd do it that way again.
