rear leaf springs

So I have a few questions maybe y'all could answer for me. So I have a 1972 chevy 1/2 ton 5 lug. The rear leaf springs are cracked and I'm having a hard time finding a set cause they are 2 1/4" wide was wondering if I could use the standard 2 1/2" ? and or is there another truck or what not I could find a set to work ? Like will a set off a new pickup work ? I'm having a hard time finding a set.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: rear leaf springs

Are you going to lower the truck or is it lowered? Several companies sell 4" drop leafs and are easy to get. 3/4 ton springs will work as well and you could pull the overload and would probably work OK and would be easier to come by. I have the HD leafs on my short bed (4 leaf plus overload instead of 3 and the overload) and it drives fine.

FWIW, most GMC trucks are leaf and most Chevy's are coil, but either can be found either way.

Re: rear leaf springs

I used General Springs with a DJM flip kit. If I knew my stocks were shot or I was going to stay lowered I probably would have gone with drop springs. http://www.generalspringkc.com/Leaf_...972_s/1822.htm
USA made and good price.
