Just wondering for anyone that's done a rear end swap, when you re-welded on the perches, did you remove the axles and how did you prevent the rear end from warping from the heat of the welds? Any tips or advice would be awesome as I've heard some horror stories of people messing up their rear end housings doing it wrong. Thanks!

I leave my axles in .do small 1 inch welds on one side cool with compressed air then go 180 degrees and do another weld. just keep doing this processes taking your time until you have it all welded up.

Awesome and thanks for the advice! Hoping to get it done soon, just worried about messing anything up. Thanks again for the tip!

Yep, similar to what I did. I put the rear end in and set it up with the u-bolt and pinion angle set. I tacked welded the new perches in and then removed the whole axle. Did the final burn in off the truck. Did about 1", then went to the other side and did the same. Let cool naturally for a minute or so and did the original size again. Bounced back and forth this way until done. I don't like cooling with compressed air or water as it can make the welds brittle.

I'm trying to make it up there Joe! Hahaha, I'd rather drive up and just hang out and talk trucks than drag you into my mess of a truck! But maybe after I get my front end rebuilt and ready to go, I'll take advantage of your over the top kindness and make a mess of your clean shop! HAHA
