Ebay or speedway HEI dizzy for the 235???

Bought one of these cheaper ebay HEI distributor's for $160 a few months ago. Installed, runs fine, but leaks oil around the gasket they included at the base of the block. It doesn't have an o ring around the shaft that goes down in the block.

After a little searching I found this one from speedway, has the o ring on the shaft. $299, not including clamping collar.

Anyone have experience with the speedway dizzy? I know it's more money, but if it doesn't leak then I guess why wouldn't I buy it?

Matt

The housing appears to be aluminum. If you can measure and have sufficent side wall thickness, you might try to use a small round file to make an o-ring groove.

If you fail, just buy the red cap unit.

Get one of Tom Langdons at Stovebolt and get the best available solution. I have used four or five of his distributors on My Cars and am completely happy with his Conversion! Looks more at home in the engine bay than either of these distributors. Or alter one yourself to fit, Toms is a Mini HEI from Chevrolet V6..
Tom's were $179. He has an web site with online ordering and you can actually talk to him on phone!

I'm assuming this is what your talking about? I don't see any o rings on the shaft, the OEM dizzy I pulled had those. This doesn't leak?
