Re: One problem after another. TH400 shift issues

Fluid level is good. Shifter hasn't been touched and it's always been perfectly fine. Just replaced the vacuum modulator. kickdown worked the other day, although it needs adjusted a little. I assume I have to remove the tranny to get to the governor? If that's the case I might replace it with a 700r4 Depending on cost

The Governor on a TH400 is at the back of the main case. 4 Bolt square cover, Take out the 4 bolts, should not leak fluid, pull out governor and look at gear. Clean the cover and get a new gasket for when you put it back together. If the gear looks bad then replace the gear it is held in place with a roll pin. Torque cover bolts to 10 ft lbs.
