'69 turn signal auto cancel

The PO of my truck had a dangerous mix of steering parts just enough so I could test drive the truck. When disassembled, i found multiple pieces missing. After searching I am confused about what does the self canceling of turn signals. Anyone know if it was standard? If not, can I add it? In my haste i bought a forever sharp steering wheel, does the type of wheel effect the auto cancel? I have a new wiring and cam set up to install although the original is working well now, accept no auto cancel. I would like to install it all once, so if I need another part I would rather get it first. I see photos when I search of a white plastic piece with a protruding tube that I do not have in my column. Replies say to replace the inexpensive springs. Thanks

I have flashy LED taillights I like to show off, so that's why I leave my turn signals on for miles. Although my wife wrongly claims its because I can't hear the blinker.

The turn signal is designed to cancel. Below are links to Classic Industries turn signal switch and individual component parts. Take a look at the picture of the switch and see how yours compares. If you see a part or 2 missing you can just replace those parts. It could be as simple as a couple $0.99 springs. If you still need help diagnosing the problem, it would help if you'd post a picture of what you have.

Canceling Cam (also houses horn contact) There is also a spring that goes around the column shaft at the backside of this part. Sounds like these are likely the parts you are missing.

A new switch should have everything but the canceling cam and the big spring that goes on the column shaft behind the cam.
