68 GMC 3500 bed

I'm considering a regular bed instead of the flatbed. Does anyone have experience with that? Options? Thanks

I've seen it done with a Longhorn bed. The 3500 should be 133" wheelbase (unless you have the LONG wheelbase) while a regular truck is 127". Longhorn is 133" so that's where your best bet is.

Re: 68 GMC 3500 bed

Welcome to the forum there is lots of help on here. You have a one ton. Ok , so your thinking about putting a fleetside bed on? Is it a Dual rear wheel? There was no dually bed as a man would think of as he would see when he sees a dually truck today. That didn't start until the next body style in 1973. There are several trucks in the forum that do have them however that have been custom made and there is a post that was at the top just a week or so ago. The custom beds were made from people using stepside fenders and cutting them to fit on fleet beds to make the appearance of a dual fender. Jim

Re: 68 GMC 3500 bed

I was just looking at a blue longhorn that was posted in 09. What a sexy truck. Because I'm a newby here I'm just figuring out how to search prior posts. Looks like this question has come up many times. Thanks for your help gentlemen
