1989 k10 jimmy tie rods ?

I bought new tie rod ends, but they don't seat in the taper? The one's that I was replacing were loose in the taper also. This is why I was replacing them. Did the Jimmy's use a different taper (larger)?

Re: 1989 k10 jimmy tie rods ?

Did any GM front diff. use larger tie rods? The AC Delco part #45A3010 and 45A0132 are suppose to be correct. They bottom out before seating in taper? Could they be that wallowed out from wear? Doesn't seem that both knuckles would be worn thuough? I have an "85 Sierra 4x4 parts truck I can get steering knuckles from. but not looking forward to that job! Might be easier to swap diff. if the gear are the same ratio?

Borrow the tie rod and ends from the donor truck and try them. Identify the axle in the blazer, maybe it's been changed or parts store is selling you the wrong parts. They only know what the computer tells them.

Thanks that's a good suggestion. Still considering axle swap if ratio is same? '85 is 3.43. Upper ball joints are shot also on K10 ! They aren't original, Looks like previous owner had no business handling tools ?!?
