Center Speaker Options - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My truck has no bracket or even a point to mount a stock speaker set up in the center dash. So, with out reinventing the wheel what are the rest of the truck owners doing to mount a pair of 3.5" speakers in the front dash?

Skip it and go with kickpanels/console/etc. No 3.5" will sound that great, especially mounted in the dash (you'll barely hear anything but *twang* on the road)/.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. I'm going to use a infinity component set. Hopefully my truck won't acoustically impaired too badly.

My 1987 has Infinity speakers in the doors. They were there when we bought it in 1996. They work great!

I also had a truck with a bookcase speaker that I set on the transmission tunnel. That actually produced great sound, but since it was "shooting" the sound up, where your head was really made a difference in volume. But, being broke at the time, it worked just fine.

But, I later switched to door speakers. The sound is much more even.

I used some 4" speakers. 2 of them and made my own holder for them. And yes you can hear them very well! They made a hugh differance in the quality of the sound system in my 71. I tweeked the metal so it would stay in place and then added a peice of black foam around the top of it.

I used two later year (4x6) speakers wire tied below the dash in my 79
sounds better then stock (AM mono)

If you guys aren't familiar with Dual Voice Coil speakers, we have DVC dash replacement speakers for this particular application. The Dual Voice coil allows a stereo output sound from one center speaker.

You can look up your year make and model and should give your choices on our site.

I like the DVC center speaker option. While I have no problem engineering a solution I don't care to do so while decent options exist. A good center speaker that will provide both left and right channels is nice option. Once funds appear I will order the speaker and kick panels to go with it. Add an 8" powered sub under the bench seat and I should have a decent sounding ride.

It sucks not being able to hear! LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB! After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
