LS swappers, engine mounts, what did you use?

Many different LS engine mount adapters out there. Which ones did you use? Would you use them again? Any modifications needed?

I used Dirty Dingo sliders with factory clam shell rubber mounts. I had to remove the a/c compressor to fit the engine in the right spot.

Here is a set that I built for mine. It pushes the motor back so there is no crossmember modification. The bushing assembly is from ORD. I used the 2" bushing with 9/16" bolt. I should still have the water jet file if anyone needs it.

I just ordered the Dirty Dingo ones. I liked the idea of being sliders to adjust to what I need. I saw three position mounts for half the price of the Dingos, but knowing my luck it would be halfway between two of the positions that I would need. Thanks for the feedback!!!

Same for me on my 78 5.3/4L60E

I was able to slide the engine back to line up the drive shaft and the stock shift linkage and only had to drill some new holes for the stock cross member which moved to the rear about 3"
I also used new stock chassis rubber mounts
I also bought the D Dingo Sanden A/C bracket
All works great

When I add AC back, I will do that for sure!!! Did you have to get custom hoses or did a combination of factory hoses work?

I'm also using the Dirty Dingo sliders with the factory clam shell mounts. I have the motor slid roughly half way back. I just test fit a set of Schoenfeld long tube headers (1302LS1) and they look like they fit great and clear everything.

YES they were a custom combo. and some of the stock pieces were used.

I would like a copy of that water jet file if you still have it. I have a water jet at work and am getting ready to drop a 5.3 in my 79. What trans did you use, and did you have to modify the driveshaft to fit?

Give me your email address and I can send them to you.

I'm using a 4l80e. Mine is 4 wheel drive and I totally redid my transfer case and crossmember for it. With my mounts you could probably bolt the plates up, space the motor and trans so it will bolt up, then weld the mounts up.
