Front Airbag suspension info

i have a ECE 4-6 drop kit and plan to use bags in the front , with the drop spindles from the kit when i do the conversion i will do ball joints and rebuild the upper and lower control arms from the kit. I am wondering how the difference in the hight will affect the tow in and out or caster camber . also if i should replace the same amount of shims that are present on the A arms all advice is much appreciated I have replaced drop springs before ....but will be a first for a redo on all with bags

You should take it for an alignment. You can use an angle finder on the disc at ride height to get you close enough to drive it to the alignment shop if you are really worried.

Yep.... It will need to be re-aligned once the bags are swapped in.

The alignment is set w/the bags @ the intended ride height. If it's above or below that height, the alignment will be 'off' so changes in camber & caster will be noticed.

thats what i was wondering .....so for now i think I'm gonna use the springs that come with the kit and keep it at the 4 inch drop ....unless you can tell me the advantage of bags in the front I put them in the back with Schrader valves so if i tow i can inflate them , I'm assuming with the rear at normal ride hight no towing I'm gonna get a better ride than the coil springs ....is that true for the front also will i get a noticeable difference with the ride ?

Make sure you get a hard measurement from bump stop to cross member when you get the alignment done. Air pressure alone will not put the truck back to the exact same height the alignment was set at. That measurement will need to be checked.

Hijack..towing and road trip

Once you install the rebuild parts and the bags, grab a framing square. With it "settled" (roll it fwd and back several feet) position the short end of the square against the flat pavement and the long end up the face of the wheel/tire. Add or subract shims until you have 1/32 inch between the top face of the tire and the square. Set your toe with 1/8 inch or slightly less and drive it. I stopped paying for alignments and have no tire wear issues on bagged vehicles. I also square the rear axle to the chassis before any front end measuring.
