Is this too much?

So got the frame outside in some good sunshine and the rotted spot looks a little worse than I initially thought. It's in the hardest place to fix as you can see. So the question is should I spend the time to fix this or is this bad enough to trash? I know I can fix it but is it worth the time and how bad is it going to look? The other side has a little of the same but its not near as bad. These are the only spots rusted through. Thanks in advance for the input.

This spot has some pin hole up top too, I guess it's pretty thin.

I think I'd find a solid frame and go from there - I couldn't put my effort and trust into that rotten one. I see frames occasionally advertised from $200 and up....$.02........

There's going to be more thin spots on that frame so I'd be careful with it. It'd need to be blasted or ground clean tho first to see, but if it's that bad in one area it's bound to bad in others.

Give it a thorough inspection with an ice pick. If you don't find too many more areas you could fix it.

And search for a replacement frame. You might find one set up the way you want it for decent money. I did on my 48 truck build.

I'd try to fix it first before going hunting for another frame,
be sure to remove the rivets and label your parts ,make a template for each side with obvious reference points away from the repair area . level the frame Weld in bracing and take measurements and cross measurements before making any cuts.
I found the most corrosion in between the spring mounts and the frame on my 58, I removed all the cab mounts ect. , and every rivet and wire wheeled the frame and primed and painted everything and re assembled with grade 8 bolts. Was happy and confident about the frame afterwards . Good luck.

By the looks of it, that's some pretty extensive rust. Going to have put ALOT of metal in there. Even after that, it's still not going to be as sound as an OE frame.

I would probably look for a donor frame myself. I see guys doing frame swaps all the time. Shouldn't be hard finding a suitible one.

Good AD frames are too easy to find and they don't have any vin numbers on them so that isn't an issue.

If you could manage a trip to the Kansas City area a guy there says he has some decent 3100 frames for sale. No price. He probably has other pieces you need too.
