92 c1500 alternator upgrade.

So I've owned this truck for about a year now. It has 247,000 miles on it. I've been having issues with the battery and alternator for a while and I just keep putting it off. Well I finally bought a battery today for it, and want to get a new alternator for it as well. I have a decent sound system nothing extreme and I want to put dual electric fans in before summer hits. I've read that the cs144 is the go to upgrade for these trucks, but my alternator is a single wire set up. Has anyone done this upgrade on a single wire set up, if so what did you do to get it to work?
