Cargo Light Help & Ideas
I wasn't getting a good connection and was messing around trying to fix that, when I broke the socket. I replaced my Cargo Light Housing with a new one. I also wanted to put a LED bulb in the place of the stock bulb.
I am hitting a wall on what my options are. Is there a way I can directly wire LED's and do away with the socket and socket type bulb? Should I just wire in a new socket or even a different type socket? Any and all help along with pics is appreciated. |

The housing is good but the socket is broken? It would probably be easier to just replace the socket and get the LED bulb.

Re: Cargo Light Help & Ideas
Where would I find a stock socket or should I just get new one ( same socket size )?

I already got the LED bulb from Amazon, but I'm not sure I like it. I really want something bright. |

Re: Cargo Light Help & Ideas
Something else you might want to think about. Why not run led's under the bed rails? I have not done this on the truck yet but plan on doing it in my boat in a couple of weeks.
Link Not mine but an example.

I do plan on doing the bed lighting. This spring or summer, I'm going to have the spray-in Rhino lining done and then I'll add the lights after that. Looking at both lights, the one that ties into the wiring for the cargo lights and then some that are run on batteries. They are both LEDS.

Re: Cargo Light Help & Ideas
Just this week I got my cargo light hooked up and turned it into a 3rd. Brake Light. Wired in two strips of RED LED'S directly into the brake light switch. Here are two pics, one light on, one off. The lens is clear like original so when the brake is not on it looks like the stock cargo lamp.

You should be able to pick up that socket at any auto parts store.
