Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super K10 on ebay

I have never seen a yg8 highlander on a Cheyenne Super. The thing I really wonder about, though, is if the truck is a cut down long bed. It looks like the frame is a different texture right where it would normally be cut down and welded. It is a beautiful truck, though.

Good eye and I think you are correct. Buyers should look at this one closely.

Is this normal?

The area that I circled.....the line for the white middle section....I don't recall it curving down like that....I may be wrong

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super K10 on ebay

I can definately see a change in the texture of the frame. I wonder if there is a texture change on the other side? Bruce

LOL, yeah I know it's been repainted...but I was just wondering if that is normal for if it was original....I looked online while I was waiting for a response and I can't find any like that so I guess they messed up on the paint lines when they masked it off for the respray.

I wonder if the high bidder knows it might be a shortened frame....it's bringing high $$$ already....very nice truck though....i'd love to have it but would always prefer it to be the real deal for money like that

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super K10 on ebay

It did not curve down originally. I have seen a lot of trucks repainted like that, where the line is tapered down, and exiting the top of the trim vs. the middle. IMO it looks better and how it should have been done originally.

Not normal. Have seen it or similar stuff done several times. Folks have the impression that the upper trim is supposed to be parallel to the top of the bedside, but it's not. That is the cause of this type of stuff. Whether folks do it intentionally because they like it better or because they spent a fortune on a paint job and then realized they mis-measured for trim location (after they made a jam pile in their drawers when they realized it) is debatable. Top of the trim should be roughly even with the top of the tail light trim and the pait split should come out of the center - like this:

Mike

Far from expert but why would it say it was a highlander and then have saddle custom vinyl? that SPID must be fake and someone tried to cram some extra on it I guess?

So my guess it was originally a highlander and whoever redid it had no idea what the promo package was

I wouldnt kick it out of my garage though one of my favorite colors too

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super K10 on ebay

A beautifully done slightly incorrect resto-mod. The frame comments above, the paint snafu, the seat cover, and more than anything (in my mind), the odd SPID (YG8 is not available on a Super - it's a Custom Deluxe thing only). Same thing for the seat cover nomenclature. The installed seat cover was never made by Chevy (but it IS one of my absolute favorite seat covers and looks perfect with the med bronze), and the nomenclature on the SPID is for a Cheyenne seat, not a Super (Custom Cloth). Too many, aha's for my comfort level at this $ range - not that I could afford this beauty anyway, ha!

K10 swb's are comin out of the woodwork - this one, TWO, white/light yellow ones, and the solid blue one a few weeks back. I likey. Fun trucks.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super K10 on ebay

I'm hoping this one is as nice as it looks. I have a deposit on this truck and am hoping to find someone in southern KS or northern OK to take a better look. It's not a Super but the Color, A/T, A/C, Chrome rear bumper and small mirrors are pretty attractive!!! I also like the look of the HD front springs (they sit a little higher in the front)!!
