Re: 1967 c20 "annabelle"

I plan to go the lowering block direction myself, it's too easy and keeps the original springs...and it's not much $$$

You might look for some 1/2 ton front coils, and try them. Used ones would be cheap...

Re: 1967 c20 "annabelle"

I got drop spindles coming Tuesday. It rides pretty smooth right now. Hope that and 2 more inches in the rear will put it where I want it.

Re: 1967 c20 "annabelle"

Got the brake kit today! All looks ok except one grease cap got bent on shipping. Looks like it should bend back. If it warms up I may start the conversion this weekend.

Re: 1967 c20 "annabelle"

Got the front end rebuilt this week end. All the parts were factory. Nothing has ever been changed. And that made changing the upper ball joints a pain. We had to go get a grinder and cut the rivets off and knock the rivets out. and for some reason I could not get the lower ball joints in easy at all. ended up braking the square part right off my Snap-On ratchet. I got the last one in with a autozone breaker bar and a 4 foot cheater pipe. I finally got to use my Snap-On ball joint press for the second time in 8 years. I ordered it when I worked for sears auto center years ago and then moved to TX and worked on petes ever since then. I have to install the brake lines and power booster set up still. I also need to order lowering blocks or more of a drop spring quick. only have 18 days tell goodguys. The truck should get better mpg now that I took 10 pounds of road grime and grease off the front end.

Re: 1967 c20 "annabelle"

LOL! That is what I said when I let the jack down. It is just the drop spindles and the factory springs. Sucker is low in the front now. The tire gap is almost perfect. Maybe the front is over compensating for the rear when I put 2 inch lowering springs in and didn't lower any at all.

Re: 1967 c20 "annabelle"

Put a order in for lowering blocks and adjustable panhard bar. Hope it all makes it buy this weekend!

Re: 1967 c20 "annabelle"

The parts made it. But in good ole performance online fashion they were 90% incorrect. The track bar was way too short and the u bolts were also too short. So last Saturday we drove all over town and didn't find any correct u bolts. So I had to have some made at a local spring shop. Got the truck aligned and drove it to work a few times. Today I filled the tires up and was adding trans fluid (not sure where it went and I don't ever remeber checking it) the water pump started to leak. So after work I got the pleasure of installing an new pump and got a chance to flush out what seems to be the last of the old nasty coolant. Only one week tell goodguys!!!!!!!! Hope to get all the bugs worked out buy then...

I think mine will be the same front and back (new short coils vs 45-year old springs equals no change).

I'm just getting around to ordering my stuff so we will see.
