Dana 70HD Disc Conversion Question.
Hey guys, so I've been poking around on here and just cant seam to find any real info.
I have a 83 Crew cab diesel dually I plan on using for towing. Would like to do a disc conversion in there rear. Found the Diy4x.com Adapter plates http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?rout...product_id=149 And after poking around on here I found the proper rotors to use. Looks like a 03 Express van rear/ 05 Chevy Dually rear rotor *they happen to be the same part number*. Then use a late 70s Chevy 3/4 ton Front for the Caliper. My main question, I have seen people say dont use this set up for towing as they dont think the brackets are strong enough. But no one seams to have any sort of evidence its just opinions. Do anyone know someone or seen trucks that run this set up and have good or bad results? I know they seam well made and Ive always been impressed with Diy4x stuff they make. It all seams very doable just dont want to endanger myself or others in the long run.

Re: Dana 70HD Disc Conversion Question.
Don't forget TSM Mfg. Single caliper kit. Dual caliper kit. I do not know how thick their brackets are but I have seen one of their kits in person (different application) and it was very nice looking. Might be worth contacting them.

Re: Dana 70HD Disc Conversion Question.
I haven't done much research, but I sure wish there was a cheap 14FF disc conversion that had a parking brake. The drums sure are heavy. From what I'm seeing many of the disc kits fit both the 70 and the 14FF.

Re: Dana 70HD Disc Conversion Question.
Have they come out with a "Disc Brake" setup that has a parking brake yet? I have a stick shift in my Dually and don't want to give up the parking brake feature.

My situation here in Pa. the truck has to be inspected every year which means hub removal and chances of nicking a seal are great. After this conversion just wheel removal. Desert |

Re: Dana 70HD Disc Conversion Question.
I would be interested in hearing how rear discs hold up towing, if that is in the cards.
