68-72 C10 A arm question
Hey my name is Will, New to the forum and c10s. I got a 72 long bed.
i will be bagging it. Plans are Short bed,Zing,Notching etc etc. but the question is when aired out, is front negative camber a natural thing with stock A arms. Or only with after market arms. or is it custom? |

Aired out the upper control arm gets to a pretty extreme angle. As it rotates it pulls the top of the spindle in. This will happen with all the a arms using the stock geometry. It can be minimised some with setups like a drop member that raise the entire set up into the chassis but not gotten rid of.

The camber gain is supposed to be there to help traction in turns.
You can eliminate some of it by shortening the lower control arm a bit. You could also lengthen your upper control arms but that would require raising the upper mount. Unless you know a lot about suspension I wouldn't recommend it. Rear the make it handle tread as a good start.

Awesome! Thanks for the information guys. So what are the benefits of tubular arms? And also if I were to cup the factory arms, will the truck go lower because more bag room.. Or will the LCA hit the crossmember and so "Zing" comes into play which also raises the engine.. Which brings me to another question. What do people about the transmission mount and trasnmission pionion angle? Do people tunnel the cab so the pionion angle is corrected?

Sorry but none of those links had anything I was looking for. Lots of dead end of threads. So prove me wrong and find the answer. What do people do to correct the transmission pionion angle with a "z" frame.. Or do people use the factory transmisson cross member and just match the axle pionion angle on the transmission pionion? Or does it even matter since its a 2 piece drivetrain.. Ya tell me google master

So many bad attitudes.
Raise the trans crossmember an equal amount. Yes the pinion angle matters. Raise the carrier bearing so that it is centered if you ran a straight line from the trans to the rearend.

Most sbc drivetrains are usually @ 3° from GM. Measure your set-up & see if it's the same.

Also iv been calling it the pionion but hopefully everyone knew what I ment. I ment yoke angle haha my bad
