Which motor mouns?

The motor mounts in the '68 swb I just picked up don't look like the ones in the 283 truck. How can I determine what engine was in this truck by looking at the mount?(small/big block, inline 6). I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

Maybe by looking at which holes are being used for the mounts. Believe the frontmost holes were for a V8. Is that frame for your use or to sell?

Try the VIN stamped on the framerail by the steering box. If CS, then I6, if CE, then it was a V8. Same with glovebox model # or Vin tag on cab.

Thanks, I'll look when I get home. Are small block and big block mounts the same. If not, how can I tell the difference?

Same holes-not sure about the mounts themselves.

The 6 cylinder mounts are longer and bolt in the back holes. the v-8 mounts bolt up front. A v-8 will mount on the 6 cylinder stands but it must be in the 6 cylinder position which means no room behind the distributor and then you have a drive shaft and tranny linkage issue.

Don't forget the CM VIN on the GMC trucks with the V-6.
