1984 silverado swb c10
New here to this forum, I picked this truck up about two months ago and just started getting parts stocked up for it. It's going to be sort of a father/son project, although my boy is only 14 months now, he'll eventually be able to work on it with me and I'll give it to him someday.
It's an 84 c10 pretty decent truck not much in the way of body work, little rust in the passenger rocker and a dent in the passenger bed side and some rust in the passenger front fender under the battery which is pretty normal. It has a 350 and 700r4 trans the engine was replaced around 2003 I believe from the paperwork I found in the truck with a reman gm parts one. It is factory a/c truck so that was a plus for me. So far I've replaced the radiator, heater core, water pump and thermostat so its running good now, not overheating like it was when I brought it home. I have all new kyb shocks, moog steering parts, new a arm bushings and new coil springs. It still has a long way to go but we'll keep pecking away at it until it's done. Here's Case testing out the drivers seat. He thinks we should get rid of the ghetto wheels as well lol |

Re: 1984 silverado swb c10
So I'm thinking of going with the mb old school wheels in 17x8 and 17x9.5. I'll probably end up with a 2.5/4" drop maybe a little lower but probably not much. My question is, would I have problems running these tires they're toyo proxes st2 255/60r17 front and 285/60r17. I haven't seen many people running a 285 on these trucks so I'm not sure if it will fit or not or if I'll need a 275. I'm wanting as little gap between the fender and tire as possible and also keeping the width of the rear tire pretty decent. No one likes a skinny rear tire lol

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Portrodder, the color looks good in the camera only lol it was originally a tan color I think maybe doeskin? It will most likely go back red and that tan or some color and that tan we haven't decided yet.

Re: 1984 silverado swb c10
Ok guys. I'm wanting to get lowering leaf springs for the rear. I know western chassis sells 4" lowering leafs that are 52" long but I found some daytons on rock auto for about $100 less. They are also 52" would these work as lowering leafs? Or do they have to be arched a certain amount?

Re: 1984 silverado swb c10
So i'm having problems with this 700r its only shifting into od when I let off of the gas? Is this because the tv cable is too tight? When it was sold to me I was told it was a 3 speed auto obviously not right, but if you know when to let off the gas it will shift to od. I can't figure this one out. If I need a new tv cable that's just what I'll do is order a new one because I probably need it anyways I cant get the adjustment button pressed in on this one.
