Power vent windows, Been done?

I was curious if anyone has powered their vent windows yet. Looks like if you modify the post a little you could use a Buick power vent window motor to operate it. Doesn't look like it would be that hard to do. Would I be the first?

Re: Power vent windows, Been done?

I have thought about it but the way the window runs up and down it would be tight to get a vent motor in the door. That being said I am running power up and down windows now as well so that makes it even tighter. If you do I want to see how you did it! it would definitely be cool. If fi could get a set with the correct switches I would probably try something but the prices these sets sell for that would be a big hole in the pocket if It didn't work.

Years ago on here some one did this. You may can find the thread but it was a long time early 90's. New server and I doubt you willl find the thread. What I remember about it was he used a socket welded to the vent rod and then like a cable going to the motor.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Power vent windows, Been done?

On the Buicks, Caddies and early Chevys the power vent windows are pretty much just like our vent windows, except without the tension spring and the end is keyed. Now all those cars when they don't have the power motor have a crank regulator for the vents. I've seen several of the crank regulator cars converted to power vents. It's interesting Andy that you thought there might be a socket involved, maybe it was a socket universal to make the positioning easier or one of those springy 1/4 extensions which is kinda cable like. hmmm, Interesting.

I got them done. Here's some photos and a link to a video I took. Just used 50's Cadillac motors and got creative. Power Vent Windows C10: https://youtu.be/ngvIPkc8rxc

Re: Power vent windows, Been done?

These are the 3 holes you need to drill to mount this. The center one is to access the screw that holds the shaft to the motor. very clean looking. I am going to buy the a-1 electric power window kit. I believe they should both work in the door nicely. Now if only I could do power door locks too without the door always unlocking when I close the door. without wireless entry Power door locks would be useless really. Ill leave that to someone else to figure out...

They make a door lock system that works off the key in the door are off remote once the door is closed. If you buy the right kit when you lock the drivers side door the passenger side will lock also and the same with un locking it with the key are remote.
