what is this???
Hey guys, first off want to say thanks to everyone and ask the information posted over the years. Have spent many nights (like tonight) reading up on the forum. Because of the many of you who share information I have accomplished some pretty impressive personal goals. Stayed not knowing a single thing about these trucks n can now hold a decent knowledgeable conversation... although still have a long way to go!
So my question to you all. I'm in the middle of installing my pb stage 1 front n rear when I noticed a small tab located on my front cross member. Didn't think anything of it. I have a 1971 short bed with front disc. As I was reading online tonight I came across this picture. I circled the tab I'm referring to, now the difference with mine is that it has nothing attached to it like the one in the picture... the one in the picture is said to be a 67 and I've seen plenty other pictures where that tab is not even included. My question is what is that tab for n should I worry that I have one or worry that I have one without any attachment??? And again thanks everyone!!! Glad to soon be joining the bagged team! |

Re: what is this???
It holds the brake line. I dont know how yours are attached now but if they are secured then dont worry about it.

Re: what is this???
Just a guess here. That modification was made to give some room for the brake hose and keep the brake hose from being stretched when making a complete turn. When you lower the truck it will cause the brake hose to tighten. A 1971/1972 C20 brake hose is what's recommended instead of having to move the tab for the hardline.
