Exhaust Question

My budget build has fell across something that just seamed to easy to not turn down. My truck has a 350 small block with long tube headers. After getting prices of close to $400.00 for two flomaster's dumped before the rear axle. I typed in flowmaster on craigslist and viola! These were on an 86 C10 swb that had a big block with long tube headers. Will be putting them on tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Does anyone think these will fit or it might just be too good to be true?

Re: Exhaust Question

Should unless it's not described correctly.

Re: Exhaust Question

And if it isn't described correctly, it's only a hacksaw and a mig welder away from fitting correctly.

Re: Exhaust Question

It depends on the collector size he was running on his big block vs. the collector size on your headers. I would bet the big block headers are bigger though.

Also..... the main thing is what trans crossmember he was running vs. what you are running. From the pics it looks like he was running a th350 Xmember cause one is straight and then bends up a little, and the other kinda bends up and back down again before straightening out.

Re: Exhaust Question

Good luck with the Flowmaster muffs. I went through two sets and they both blew apart after some time.

Re: Exhaust Question

I would just buy whatever mufflers i want online and have a exhaust shop build me a exhaust. It will cost more but will fit for sure and everythings new.

Re: Exhaust Question

I hear you guys, but unfortunatley I was gettings quotes near $400.00 just for that. In sticking with my "budget" build this is the route I've chosen. It's not due to lack of money trust me. Backstory is the bid D word. (Divorce) Lost my shop that I was building it in. Truck is 99% done minus the exhaust. Truck has been in a public storage building with no elec for five months now. Plan on driving it to a small local gathering every friday night that just happens to be about one block from my "bachelor" pad. Getting tired of telling all there rodders and car guys about a truck I've been building.

Blew apart = a big a$$ed hole in the side of the muffler housing. One that takes a lot of welding to repair.

Re: Exhaust Question

I also trashed the Flowmaster on my 91 daily driver after two years. I now run Magnaflows and yes they are a little more pricey, but they last and sound good to me. I have put them on my 84 GMC, my 2011 GMC, and my Pontiac G8. Before I sold the 91, I put over 300,000 miles on it and the Magnaflows lasted the better part of 8 years. My 2011, has 126,000 on it and the Magnaflow has been on it since I got it new.

Re: Exhaust Question

I think exhaust kits at Summit/Jegs are still around $150. That used set up doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

Re: Exhaust Question

Picked it up this morning. Pretty satisfied overall. Now back to the storage shed. Of course I didn't get any pics of the exhaust installed because that would have made way too much sense. Still need a burban radiator shroud and button up the rear lights short or grounding problem. Sorry, just never really did a build thread.
