interchang doors

Hi all, I am New to this forum so if this is stupid or been beat to death question im sorry in advance. My son picked up a 79 k5 recently and the doors are rusted to death. I found a set of doors off a 81 suburban and wanted to know if they would swap over. If he had a 60-66 I would not have to ask lol. Also if they will swap the new doors have power windows and locks, is it just a matter of running power to them to make them work or is there more to it, he doesnt care if he cant work the pass. door from the drivers side just wants them all to work ya know
Thanks again

Re: interchang doors

yes they will bolt up,
and the manual crank comes out where the window switch goes.
so you can run manual till the power is run.
vents have locks on the later years.
I noticed my 78 had metal clips on the door rods
and i used 89 (parts on 78 doors) which have plastic clips.
I noticed the later glass gets thinner.

Re: interchang doors

The door panels changed I think twice, and thus their mounting points or screw holes, so the door panels need to match the doors. On the wiring, some guys will pull the inner harness from the fuse box to the doors and sell it in the classified section, so you can wire it up like factory if you want to.

Re: interchang doors

Not to highjack, but if you take power windows suburban or crew cab front doors on a single cab truck. How do you run power to windows with all the extra wires? Thanks.

Well you'd have to remove some wires,
but CC or Burb will have the bigger 4 hole window switch in the door panel.
