Crew cab headliner removal
I bought an '89 crew cab and it needs a headliner. Will it come out of the cab through say one of the rear doors? It almost looks too big. Thanks

Re: Crew cab headliner removal
I took out my rear window and removed it through it. The same when I installed it. I don't think it will go through the rear doors. Some claim it will go through the front pass side, but as fragile as those things are and as much time and effort i had in redoing mine.... the rear window was the safest and easiest option for me. I didn't even have seats in it at the time, I was installing sound deadener and new carpet.
They sure do look a lot nicer when they are redone! Thats a lot of ceiling real-estate.

Re: Crew cab headliner removal
I was kinda thinking it might need to come out the back window.

Re: Crew cab headliner removal
I got mine out the front passenger door. the seats were out at the time. Got it back in the same way. It requires folding it in for a brief moment, but it did work. And my headliner was pretty beat up. That being said, if taking out the back window is an option for you I'm sure it would be much easier that way

Re: Crew cab headliner removal
I would rather not take the back window out, but if I have to then I guess I will.

Re: Crew cab headliner removal
I have taken several out through the doors with the seats in. Just have a buddy with you one in the truck and the other outside. You have to 'taco' it a wee bit just a curve really and they come out pretty easy. Had mine out twice this way and also did two other trucks this way .

Re: Crew cab headliner removal
I've had mine out several times, pretty sure I went thru the back door.

Re: Crew cab headliner removal
If you do take it via folding/out the door method, pay attention to where the headliner creases at. If you are re-covering it yourself, you'll want to make sure you get the adhesive applied really well along that crease point where it folds, to discourage the fabric from separating when you bend it again to put it in.
