Re: Need help vin # on frame
Door jam drivers is the serial number of your truck that (besides a stock engine stamp #)
are the only numbers on your truck............unless it has been re-registered by a State DOT WHAT does the title have on it?

Frame stamping started in 58 or so I'm told.

Re: Need help vin # on frame
No title, check the glove box and every hiding place inside the cab for an old registration slip that will have the vin used with the state it was last registered in.
They should use the door post tag number if it has the weight tag on it with the number stamped in it. It's actually the "serial" number rather than a Vin number. There is pretty good info here http://www.sanjosechevys.org/Tech/te...chevtrucks.htm that will help you read that serial number and decode it.

Re: Need help vin # on frame
Was it from the factory or a State stamp, is it the same number as the door serial #

Re: Need help vin # on frame
I am in the same situation, with mine in California,
the title i got with the truck had the original engine number as the "vin" number, but it did not have the original engine in it. California does not recognize engine changes, so there for all i have to do is get a new vin number issued. sounds easy, but we are talking California. NOT!!!!! |
