Drop Spindle decisions help

I have a question for you guys about drop spindles and springs. I have a 65 C10 I'm currently dropping. I want as much static drop as I can get with out to much problem. I have purchased a complete 83 front suspension with booster, rotors, sway bar, gear box etc. I have torn it apart to rebuild and powder coat. I'm at the point now where I'm ordering drop spindles and springs. I thought I knew what wanted until I started looking. I thought 2.5" drop spindle and a 3" drop spring will give me 5.5" of total drop and put me where I want. I start shopping online for good American made stuff and settled on either Mcgaughy's or Belltech. Well Mcgaughys has 2.5" drop spindles and 2" drop springs available and Belltech has 3" drop spindles with 1" drop springs available.

I guess my question is, "is it not recommended to drop the front suspension more than 4.5" in total?

I threw a picture in so y'all can see what a cluster F*!$K I got going on. Going to do this right the first time so I don't have to redo anything. I want drive it like yesterday, but it take time. I appreciate your advise. Thanks, Bill

Re: Drop Spindle decisions help

I have 2.5 CPP Drop Spindles, and 2" Mcgaheys springs and honestly thats as far as i would go without further modification. im worries about the Tire hitting the tup of the Fender/inner fender the way it is. thats the limiting factor with how low these trucks can get in my experience. i dont want to cut the wheel well and inner fender.

Re: Drop Spindle decisions help

I've seen where guys get away with 5.5" drop. Not sure if there anything more done besides springs and spindles. I don't know how meat you can stuff under the wheel well @ 5.5" drop. Im running a 4.5" up front with a 275/60/15 meat in there and I could probably squeeze another .5" drop with out any clearance issues at first glance.
If you want 5.5 " get the Mcgaughys spindles and beltech springs and be done with it.

Right on. Thanks for the reply. I think that's what I'm going to do. Belltech spindles and Mcgaughys springs would give me 5" drop. I like the look of yours, so a 1/2" more might be pushing it, but that's what this is all about anyway. It's a project.
