The hunt for proper fitting headers...

Looking for headers to fit my zz3 heads AND the truck without having to to do any hammer fitting... anyone have a finger they can point in the right direction or maybe a part number?

Re: The hunt for proper fitting headers...

Sanderson CC11 installed on a 72 GMC C1500 with ZZ4. Fits great.

Ok Thanks, those do look like they fit nice. No trouble getting the one plug in and out on the right side? I think it was the second one back.... And are they 1-3/4" round tubes at the head or "D" shaped at the head? Whats that black tube at the front left of your motor with the bar code sticker on it??
One last thing... can I get a full shot of your motor with those valve covers?

Re: The hunt for proper fitting headers...

I think I'm in the same situation you are. I have Brodix Track 1 heads with angled plugs and raised ports. So far I have tried;

Hedman 69099 - 1 5/8 primary, slight interference with #1 tube on #5 plug. Long tubes wont work with my ride height as the whole collector is below the frame.

Hedman 69020 - 1 3/4 primary, nice shorty header. Driver side fit the heads like a dream. Passenger side design was changed recently and the #2 tube runs right through the spark plugs, the old version used to run up and over. My ports are raised a 1/2" so something close to stock height ports would probably work.

Sanderson has recommended a CC10-158DP. These are supposed to be 1 5/8 version of the CC10 and made for angled plugs and D-ports. The design is also an "up and over" #1 and 2 primary, so it should work for raised ports.

I'm trying these next. I'm a long way off so I wouldn't count on an update from me before you might need them. The Sanderson customer service guys are pretty good to work with. If you do go this route let me know how they work...

I was just on their site researching the CC10, but Ill have to go back and read up on the 158DP now. The CC10 did say they work on angle plug D port heads though. See the post by Z10 below with the pics.

2nd on the Sanderson CC11s,very nice fit on the ZZ4. They're very helpful and prompt if you shoot them an email. You also have to specify angle plugs when ordering.

Possmguts, I had no problem installing the plugs in these heads which are angled. I would check with Sanderson on tube sized and shape. I honestly can't remember. The black tube is an alternator brace that comes with the factory serpentine system. It attaches to the front header bolt. I did have to make a short spacer, because the set up uses a factory manifold which is thicker than the header flange.

You'll find more pics on my build thread.
