Help: 3 speed Saginaw to SM465
Hi guys, here is what I have.
Currently I have a 2wd 1972 LWB. I have swapped in a 1992 TBI 350 and still have the original 3ott. Now, I want to swap that 3ott over to an SM465. What is the deal with the driveshaft? My buddy has 2x2wd trucks, one has an SM465 behind a 6 cyl and the other has a th400 behind a 350. He says both driveshafts are the same and both are 2 pc. I am looking at my SM465 that I have in my front porch and there is no way this transmission is as long as a 350 for the 400 that I have in my backyard. My truck used to have a 350/th400 combo in it, so I know the 350/sag 3 spd are the same length, just the slip yoke takes up the difference. The questions: Now, was there a 2pc driveshaft in our trucks specifically for the SM465 and a different 2pc driveshaft for all the other transmission combos? Or is there something else I haven't figured out yet with regards to these transmissions? |

Re: Help: 3 speed Saginaw to SM465
I can't help with the driveshaft but the SM465 has a larger opening in the bell housing then some other trans.
