Project "don't sell this one"
Well I'm back after a 3 or so year hiatus from having a C10. Had a kid in that time frame and also one on the way arriving April 2015. This is my like 4th one or so now. Can't stay away. Always come back to them. This time is a 86 short fleet that I stole for $300 bucks. Can't complain there. Bought it about 2 weeks ago really haven't touched it until today. In that 2 weeks I did end up buying a 5.3 and 4L60 out of a 02 1500. This time I'm not giving in and selling and I hope you all encourage me to keep pushing on this one. Pics now so I'm not worthless haha.

Re: Project "don't sell this one"
How much does a 5.3 and tranny go for? I'd really like to find one with a 4L80E, 4WD, but that might be asking a lot. Sadly the 6.0 seems to be harder to find and more money.
Have you done that swap before? How hard is wiring?

Nope haven't don't this swap before. Gonna be a learning experience in the c10. I'll keep it updated here in the build thread. 5.3's are relatively inexpensive in my opinion. I picked up the motor and trans for 800.

Re: Project "don't sell this one"
Well that was a steal.
No shame in the 5.3 either. You can get almost as much power out of that then the 6.0 too. Small turbo & intercooler will send that truck into hyper drive! |

Re: Project "don't sell this one"
Yeah man I can't complain. Gonna be a fun reliable truck that I'll drive anywhere. I have a great tuner at my shop that's promising me around 450 at wheels n/a. I'll be ok with that haha.

Re: Project "don't sell this one"
Well not much has been done since after Xmas. Did get some of those dirty dingo LSX mounts from the wife for Xmas. And also brought the truck to my house for a little bit to allow me to work into the nights to get this thing done. Got side tracked cause my other cars air compressor went out (air zenith) now changing that to Viair and redoing the entire trunk setup. Well here's some pictures so im not worthless. Soon a drop member is in my future haha.

Well that's a slap in the face ... then again ... I'm seeing a LS option that just presented itself.

That's a mean c10 volks! Real sweet!
Really nice to see your truck build coming along. It's a lot of work but it feels good once you see it coming together. |

Re: Project "don't sell this one"
Hey man dont sell this one!!! ...Hey what do you have planned as far as performance parts and such since you say that the tuner says you are gonna be near the 450 hp range?Interested to know what you have planned?Do you plan on reworking harness yourself or ordering new one already ready for ls swap? Anyways i can see the diamond in the rough and good luck with the build!
