Front turn signal issue
I have an 86 C10 Silverado. My front yellow marker lights don't work properly with the turn signal. So here's what it does:
With the headlights off: I use the turn signal left- the right side is blinking. I use the turn signal to the right-the left side is blinking. With the headlights on: Both blinkers work properly to the appropriate side Everything else works fine the way they should, it's just the front side markers when the headlights are off. |

Re: Front turn signal issue
The images below describe how the front side markers work in conjunction with the directionals. They are designed to:
1. Blink in sync with the forward facing directionals when the parking lights are off 2. Blink out of sync with the forward facing directionals when the parking lights are on Without knowing any more about your situation (e.g. did this just start to happen out of the blue or did it come on slowly over time, have they ever operated correctly, did you do any repairs or make any modifications just prior to the onset of the issue, etc.) - I can't offer much in the way of advice. Just the general stuff: Be sure your front lighting ground points are clean and tight. Check that all the filaments in the associated bulbs are intact - and that the correct lamps are installed. Bulbs are correctly oriented within the sockets. Bulb sockets are free of oxidation and clips are tight. There are no shorts or grounds in the lighting feeds. |

Re: Front turn signal issue
I'm beginning to wonder if the problem may be with the turn signal stalk. One day I was cleaning the steering wheel & column, I adjusted the tilt and the wipers started running on would not quit. Maybe the wires got pinched or something.

Re: Front turn signal issue
So I found the issue. The marker light socket was bad (the one on right in the pic). I replaced both sockets and so far everything seems to be working as it should. I just need to replace a headlight, noticed it wasn't working when I was checking all the light functions after the socket repair. Top headlight goes out when I turn the brights on. Off to AutoZone again
Thanks for the help chengny, your pics led me to look at the marker light sockets |
