Wheel backspace for 69C10 6 lug
Well its time to order a new set of wheels for the 69, I`m staying 6 lug and going with a 20" rear and 18" front for the staggered look, I believe the correct back space is 5.5 for the rear and I`m not sure of the front can you guys remember those back spacing numbers? I`m running a 5/7 static drop and thinking of going with H.R.B.B. Torque thrust style or Coys but the Coys are months from being available.
Thanks

Re: Wheel backspace for 69C10 6 lug
Backspacing is directly related to wheel width.
I assume by staggered you mean 10" wide in the back and 8" or 8.5" wide in the front. Also the rearend width will also dictate what backspace you need. Which rearend? 67-69? 70? (two different widths available that year) 71-72? Any plans to bag it in the future? It aslo depends on how much you like the wheels to tuck inside the fenders. I personally HATE when the front track width is wider than the rear. SO I tuck the front wheels inside the fenders a little more than most,... to hide the fact that these trucks came from the factory with a wider front track width.

Yes, 20x10" in the rear and 18x8.5 in the front, I`m running the stock 69 rear-end housing with the 6 lug and 307 Eaton posi.
Thanks

Re: Wheel backspace for 69C10 6 lug
Look at 72BlckButy's thread.
We measured 20x10 (4.75" BS) with the early 6-lug rearend. And 20x8.5 (5.5" BS) I would seriously consider going 20's all the way around. 255/40 and 295/40 Toyo Proxes tires. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=574115

One more.
These are 20" 6-lug Billet Specialties Vintecs ordered special. My opinion only,... 18's look too small on the front.

Re: Wheel backspace for 69C10 6 lug
20x10 (with a 5.5" BS) works better when using the WIDER 71-72 rearend housing and on a fleetside bed.
Stepside beds take a totally different set of numbers.

Re: Wheel backspace for 69C10 6 lug
I was thinking that the 18`s might give me a little more room with tight turns and big bumps, I`m running 20`s all the way around now

Re: Wheel backspace for 69C10 6 lug
Wheel backspacing and overall tire height is the key to turning up front.

Re: Wheel backspace for 69C10 6 lug
Nice wheels.
But even the most expensive wheels don't look good if they don't tuck or tuck way too much. That's why I always measure before I order. There's tons of info on measuring wheel backspacing. I wish you were closer, I would be glad to help.

Never heard of them, I'll have to check them out. Are they expensive? Can you get custom offsets?
